Most dogs that are surrendered to a shelter or re-homed typically are around 18 months old because the owners did not know how to handle behaviors such as barking, jumping, not listening, not coming when called, or having bad manners. By using positive rewards training, a behavior can be changed without harming your dog or breaking their trust and respect for you or the trainer. For both you and your dog, they must have basic obedience skills, and house manners and are socialized to have a well-balanced personality and be wonderful to live with.
Whether you are starting with a pup or a mature dog, we can work with your dog and then show you how to work with them in the same manner. Your dog will be as obedient as you and your family, making everyone happy.

Melanie has worked with many adopted and abused dogs helping them work through their challenges through her understanding, patient guidance, and gentle care; earning their trust and respect.
Melanie will come to your home to observe the behavior(s) your dog has and will set a plan to redirect your dog to acceptable behavior by trading unwanted manners with good ones. We will work in your home and move into various environments to increase the dog’s contextual experiences, increasing self-confidence and emotional stability. At the same time, you will learn to manage and redirect his behavior into positive experiences and growth.
